Does Lokus send my files or prompts to the cloud?
Local is the default: files, prompts and outputs stay inside your approved environment. If a cloud-connected feature exists, it stays disabled until an administrator explicitly enables it. See the security architecture for the exact data flow.
Can Lokus run fully offline or air-gapped?
Yes. After the required software and model packages are delivered to the environment, Lokus can operate without an internet connection. We also support air-gapped deployment planning for stricter network policies.
What hardware do we need?
It depends on the selected model, context size and document volume. Mini is for lighter machines, Core for most work, and Ultra for the heaviest multi-step tasks. We validate the exact configuration during deployment planning.
Which file types are supported?
Common business formats including PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, CSV, Markdown, TXT, HTML and JSON. Contact us if your workflow depends on a specialized or legacy format.
How are answers verified?
When an answer uses an attached knowledge set, Lokus provides clickable citations that take the reviewer back to the source passage in seconds.
How is Lokus different from Ollama or LM Studio?
Model runners help you run a local model. Lokus adds a full workspace around it: document knowledge sets, citations, live artifacts, assistants, approved task execution, audit logs and team deployment support.
How do updates work in offline environments?
Update packages can be reviewed and delivered according to your deployment policy. The exact process depends on whether the environment is connected, restricted or fully air-gapped.
